The Crossings Animal Sanctuary, Inc., a nonprofit animal welfare organization, will host the 4th Annual Tail Waggers’ Strut dog walk festival at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA on Sunday, October 13 2013, from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The proceeds will be used to acquire land, build, and operate Bucks County’s first no-kill animal sanctuary.
After three years at Shady Brook Farm in Newtown and at Washington Crossing State Park in Washington Crossing PA, the event is moving to a space at perfectly suited for our festival and walk - Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, just off the Street Road exit of I-95.
With its picturesque landscape and wide-open festival space, the new location will be a delight for all our participants, two-legged and four-legged alike! The walk will follow a beautiful path 4-miles thru the park, and then lead participants back to the festival field. There will also be a 2-mile walk route for children up to age 12 called “Kids Can, Too!”
The event’s festival field will feature over 100 vendors, offering pet products and services, crafts, food, and more. Special events will occur throughout the day, including dog events and demonstrations, live entertainment, a “Blessing of the Animals”, and children’s activities. Local shelter and rescue organizations will also be attending with furry friends looking for a forever home.
This year's theme is "Sweet, Sweet Dog", focusing on the many wonderful qualities that dogs possess, and how they enrich our lives. Our honoree, Oogy, is the quintessential sweet, sweet dog. Rescued after being used as a bait dog for dogfighting and being horribly injured, Oogy was adopted by Larry Levin and his family. He has spent his 11 years as a beloved family member, with a loving temperament that touches everyone he meets.
Registration is now open, so sign up today and start fundraising! The earlier you begin fundraising and getting pledges, the more money you can raise to help the dogs and cats of Bucks County. Participants who raise over $100 in pledges will get a 4th Annual Tail Waggers Strut t-shirt, and fabulous prizes will be given to the walkers who raise the most pledge money.

In the event’s first three years, nearly 1500 animal lovers in Bucks County and the surrounding area walked in the “Strut” and attended the festival. As a result of the community’s efforts, over $50,000 was placed in the Sanctuary Building Fund. This year, the goal is to have over 1,000 individuals, families and children walking their dogs, and to raise $100,000 in net proceeds. With your help we will make a Bucks County in which there are No More Homeless Pets, where 90% or more of the homeless companion animals are ensured a loving home and quality care for the rest of their lives.
